Concept Kids: Animals is the science game I have been looking for! I wanted a science game for younger children that wasn’t memory, bingo, or trivia. This game fills that void I had. It is great for preschool all the way through elementary.
In Concept Kids, the players may not speak except to say yes or no. They are trying to get the adult (or another player) to guess an animal by giving pictoral clues as to the characteristics of that animal: color, habitat, size, speed, how it moves, what it eats, etc.
I played Concept Kids with one of my Game School classes consisting of 6-8 year olds and they all LOVED it! There was lots of laughter and excitement as they worked together to get me to guess various animals. My non-readers were on the same playing field for this one because there is absolutely no reading required, which was wonderful!
Concept Kids has three levels of “difficulty”. The more commonly known animals have a blue border around them. The animals that aren’t in children’s books and shows as much have a red border around them. Finally, mythical animals have a rainbow border around them. The deck can easily be customized for the level of the children who are playing.
I cannot say enough good things about Concept Kids: Animals. While Repos Production probably just created this to simply be a “junior” version of the original Concept game, what they actually produced was a fantastic science game for preschool through 5th grade. I can tell you right now, this one is going to be pulled out a lot in my classes and I can’t wait for my own girls to be old enough to play it as well. Well done, Repos Production!
You can purchase a copy of Concept Kids: Animals on Amazon. I hope you and your family enjoy this one as much as we do. Happy gaming!
